Into the Wild

On taas se aika vuodesta kun illat pimenevät aikaisin. Tekee kaikkein eniten mieli viettää iltahämärät kotona kynttilänvalossa, vilttiin kääriytyneenä ja kuunnella tuulen ujellusta tai sateen ropinaa. Tuoksukynttilät ovat näinä iltoina parasta, mitä tiedän. Tunnelmallisen valon lisäksi ne voivat kuljettaa toiseen aikaan ja paikkaan; jylhille rantakallioille, lumiseen vuorensolaan, erämaahan. 

It's that time of the year again, when it gets dark in the afternoon. I want to spend my twilight moments at home in canle light, wrapped in a blanket and listening to the wind blowing or rain drumming outside. During these nights, scented candles are the best thing I know. In addition to the atmosphere they create, they have the ability to carry you to another place and time; cliffs at the ocean shore, snowy mountain gorges, into the wild.  

Tietty tuoksukynttilä muistuttaa itseäni usein vahvasti siitä elämänvaiheesta, jolloin olen sytyttänyt sen ensikerran. Uudella tuoksukynttilällä luon siis aina tavallaan uuden vaiheen, hajuaistiin sidotun muiston tietystä ajasta elämässäni.  

A certain scented candle will always remind me of the times when I first lit it. Thus, in a way, I always create a new phase in life, a new scent-bound memory with a new candle. 

Tänä syksynä muistoni rakentuvat Roomage sisustusliikkeestä löytämäni Upwined Candlesin 'Into the Wild' - tuoksun ympärille. Kaikki tieto kynttilöistä on tällä hetkellä saatavilla vain saksaksi, jota en ymmärrä lainkaan. Sen verran kuitenkin tiedän, että kynttilät tehdään soijavahasta kierrätettyihin viinipullonpohjiin, eli ne ovat sekä vegaaninen, että post-consumer-kierrätystuote. Into the Wild tuoksuu kuusipuulta, appelsiinilta, mäntymetsältä ja katajalta - eli taivaalliselta. 

This autumn my memories will build around 'Into the Wild' by Upwinded candles, found at the Roomage interiors boutique. All the information concerning these candles is currently only available in German, which I cannot understand a word of. I do know, however, that these candles are made out of soy wax into the bottoms of recycled wine bottles, so they are both vegan and made of recycled post-consumer waste. 'Into the Wild' smells of spruce, orange, pinewood and juniper - in other words, heavenly.
