Päivät lyhenevät ja alan taas, väistämättä, pukeutumaan enemmän mustaan. Liekkö vanhenemisen merkki vai mikä, mutta kaikki helppo ja yksinkertainen on alkanut miellyttää. Kaikki luotettava, jonka voi aamuhämärässä vaan vetää päälle sen kummempia virittelemättä ja peiliin katsomatta. Ei ole kyse siitä, että intohimoinen suhtautumiseni pukeutumiseen kokisi nyt jotain hidasta kuolemaa, tai ettei enää kiinnostaisi. Haluan yksinkertaisesti viettää enemmän aikaa vaatteet päällä, kuin vaatekaapin edessä alusvaatteisillaan seisten ja pähkäillen.
The days are getting shorter again and I, inevitably, go back to black. I wonder whether it's a sign of getting old(er) or what, but I currently appreciate ease over everything else, when getting dressed. All things reliable, the sort that can just be pulled on in the morning dusk, without the extra fuss. My passion for dressing is not experiencing a slow death, nor have I ceasd caring about my appearance. I simply want to spend more time wearing the clothes than standing in front of my wardrobe in my underwear, contemplating.
Lyhyellä analyysillä saa keksittyä jo monta syytä tämänhetkisiin fiiliksiin. Meillä ei ole vieläkään kokovartalopeiliä asunnossamme, joten en ihan oikeasti voi seistä sen edessä miettimässä, kohtaavatko kahden vaatteen värisävyt ja mittasuhteet haluamallani tavalla. Toisekseen, luin Rinnan kirjan uudemman kerran kirjoittaessani siitä viime viikolla arvostelun, ja jouduin taas pakottamaan itseni pukeutumisen perusasioiden äärelle ja lopettamaan tuloksettoman haihattelun. There's no need for a complex analysis to detect what has triggered the current mood. We still don't have a full-body mirror in our apartment, so I can't stand in front one wondering, whether the colours and proportions of two garments really meet in a desired way. Secondly, I recently re-read Rinna's book as I wrote this review on it, and it made me quit all futile daydreaming and return to the basic principles of dressing. If you're in the middle of a crisis brought on by the new season, I suggest you read the book before buying anything new.
Syksyn suosikiksi on osoittautunut tämä Sanna Hopiavuoren kierrätetystä pellavasekoitteesta valmistettu 'Marta'- mekko, joka on viime aikoina ollut päällä varmaan neljänä päivänä viikossa. Musta mekko, joka on älyhelppo huoltaa, todella mukava käyttää ja jota voi hyödyntää kerrospukeutumisessa loputtomasti, on ihan korvaamaton vaate. Pellava mielletään usein kesämateriaaliksi, mutta toimii mielestäni lämmikeiden kera ihan yhtä hyvin ainakin syksyllä. Talvea varten kävinkin sitten tilaamassa Yalon kautta 'Shiloh'-mekon, joka on malliltaan hyvin samanlainen, mutta josta piti minua varten pidentää hihoja ja helmaa hieman. Aaltosen nahkatakin löysin Tori.fi:n kautta. Takki oli kuulunut myyjän äidille ja toiminut parempien tilaisuuksien takkina. Takkiin kuuluu myös muhkea kettuturkiskaulus, jonka saa irrotettua kätevästi napeilla. Takkia olen käyttänyt paketin saapumisen jälkeen joka päivä, kevyen vuoritikkauksen ansiosta se pitää aikaisin saapuneen syyskylmän loitolla.
This Sanna Hopiavuori 'Marta' dress, made out of recycled linen blend, has become an autumn favourite, and I've probably worn it four days a week. A black dress that is ridiculously easy to upkeep, very comfortable to wear and that can be utilized endlessly when layering is a truly irreplaceable garment. Linen is often related with summer, but I see no reason why it wouldn't b quite as functionable in the autumn. I recently ordered the Sanna Hopiavuori 'Shiloh' dress in granite grey merino wool through Yalo, with the sleeves and hem lengthened for me to keep warm during winter. The leather coat is by Aaltonen, an old Finnish leather and fur garments provider, but I found it through Tori.fi. It had been the seller's mother's old and functioned as an overcoat for better occasions. It has a fluffy fox fur collar, that can be detached with buttons. I have worn the coat every day since the package arrived, and the light padding on the inside keeps the cold out just perfectly as the temperatures begin to fall.
