Huh en todella tiedä mikä kumman keväthurma nyt on iskenyt! Ostin nimittäin puuterinväriset keväthansikkaat - ja kyllä, välttelen viimeiseen asti kuvailemasta näitä vaaleanpunaisiksi. Vanhahtavasti hansikkaat, sillä nämä eivät ole mitkä tahansa rukkaset, vaan tanskalaisen Randers Handsker-merkin autoiluhansikkaat sävyssä '05-Rose' - ja luonnollisesti As Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark.
Meet my new powder-coloured spring gloves, which I am slightly ashamed to admit I bought in a pure spur of the moment - and stubbornly refuse to describe as anything reminescent of the colour pink. In the guilt-fuelled aftermath I can at least console myself with the knowledge that these aren't just a regular pair of gloves - they are driving gloves in shade '05-Rose', manufactured by Randers Handsker - As Purveyor to Her Majesty the Queen of Denmark, naturally.
Puuterinväriset keväthansikkaat käyvät hyvin maaliskuun voimaesineestä, kun odotan pitkittyneen harmauden keskellä kevättä alkavaksi - näitä katsellessa jaksaa uskoa kuiviin katuihin ja kevätaurinkoon. Ohuemmilla hansikkailla tarkenee jo ulkona, ja tämä pari toden totta piristää kokomustia asuja, joita eksyy vielä toistaiseksi päälle lähes joka päivä. Hirveästi kaipailisin värejä vaatekaapinkin puolelle, sillä tuntuu jotenkin armottoman synkältä kääriytyä edelleen tummiin kerroksiin. Mutta minkäs teet, kun vaaleat vaatteet saavat tuntemaan vielä aina niin kovin alastomaksi ja vaatekaapin yliedustetut värit ovat lähinnä musta ja musta.
As spring seems to be biding her time, I turn to my new gloves for faith on those cold grey mornings, when the winter weathers really seem to be stretching my nerve (take the hint snow!). I also make them work very hard to keep my spring game going strong - these have been the only fleck of colour in my outfits recently. Wouldn't mind some colourful additions to my wardrobe, but the lighter tones currently leave me feeling very bare, whilst wrapping up in dark layers seems slightly depressing. I guess March really is about all things in-between. But then, what's a girl to do when the two colours over-represented in her wardrobe are black and black?
En tiedä kuinka kauan kevätromantisointia lopulta kestää, voi olla että lämpimien säiden alkaessa palaan jo vallan iloisesti käyttämään pääasiassa mustia vaatteita - kevättrenssini ja ainoa omistamani kesämekkokin ovat mustia. Aionkin ottaa tämän keväthurmion kanssa rauhallisesti, enkä varmaankaan anna sen riistäytyä tämän enempää käsistä (ainakaan silloin kun kädet pitelevät kukkaroani). Laatuasusteisiin voi tietenkin aina sijoittaa, sillä ne todella kestävät aikaa - ja tuleehan kevät taas ensi vuonna! Ja kun nämä kerran ovat kuningattarenkin hyväksymät...
In the end, I am not entirely sure how long I'll be romanticising about spring. Come warm weathers and I might be quite happily back to black - my spring trench and the only summer dress I own are both black. Thus I intend to take it easy with the spring collections and not let my fingers get too attached with much else at the spur of the moment - especially not when they're holding my wallet, too. However, investing in quality accessories was always my strong game, because I know how well classics like these stand the test of time. And besides, if they're fit for a Queen...
