Kortti

In collaboration with Globe Hope*

As tomorrow is the Globe Hope Fashion Festival I had the opportunity to style an item from their current collection for the warm (knock wood) autumn weathers. I chose the 'Kortti' skirt, because it seemed to balance well between practical and smart, the things that we seem to value once back at our everyday routines. Globe Hope - "Fabric Redefined" - uses surplus and recycled fabrics to create unique items, giving a new purpose for materials that have become unneccessary in their original purpose. Globe Hope is truly committed to ecological and ethical principles throughout their design and manufacture process, as well as within all other aspects of the brand's value chain. Often created of old army surplus materials, "Kortti" too, is made out of old laundry bags of the German army. Excellent! For once the promise of a durable material is no empty promise, but a tested fact.

Globe Hope järjestää huomenna Fashion Festarit, ja minulla oli tilaisuus stailata jokin vaate heidän mallistostaan lämpimiin (koputan puuta) syysiltoihin. Valitsin 'Kortti'-hameen, koska siinä yhdistyivät mielestäni käytännöllisyys ja siisteys, joita alkaa taas arvostamaan arkirutiinien äärellä. Globe Hope - "Fabric Redefined" - käyttää kierrätettyjä- ja ylijäämäkankaita luodakseen yksilöllisiä tuotteita ja antaakseen uuden elämän materiaaleille, joista on tullut alkuperäisessä käyttötarkoituksessaan tarpeettomia. Globe Hope sitoutuu ekologisiin ja eettisiin käytäntöihin niin suunnittelu- kuin valmistusprosessissaan - ja kaikessa, mikä brändiin liittyy. Tuotteita valmistetaan usein mm. armeijan ylijäämästä, kuten myös Kortti-hame, joka on ollut edellisessä elämässään Saksan armeijan pyykkipussi. Mainiota! Kerrankin materiaalin kestävyys ei ole mikään tyhjä lupaus, vaan todenteolla testattu tosiseikka.

I paired Kortti with a recent pair of Lumi shoes, which I thought went rather well with the Fashion Festival, as Lumi and Globe Hope are teaming up to throw a musical fashion show as part of the event. These might not be my most practical pair, but unlike perhaps expected they are extremely comfortable, and I quite enjoy the change. I have deep respect for Lumi's decision to use only vegetable tanned leather for their entire shoe collection, and also for doing something different, something that looks so characteristic to the brand. 

Yhdistin Kortin viikko sitten luokseni muuttaneiden Lumin kenkien kanssa, jonka ajattelin sopivan hyvin Fashion Festivaaalien henkeen, sillä Lumi ja Globe Hope ovat lyöttäytyneet yhteen järjestääkseen musiikillisen muotinäytöksen osana tapahtumaa. Nämä eivät ehkä ole se käytännöllisin kenkäparini, mutta uskomatonta kyllä, kengät ovat todella tukevat ja nautin kieltämättä niiden tuomasta muutoksesta. Kunnioitan myös suuresti Lumin päätöstä käyttää jalkineissaan vain kasviparkittua nahkaa, sekä pelotonta tapaa tehdä todella omansanäköisiä, erilaisia jalkineita. 

The Fashion Festival is a full-day, free-entrance event, organized in the premises of the Globe Hope flagship store and Café Köket in the historical Kiseleff house. The schedule includes musical performances, treats from Café Köket, an introduction to the ethical publication Huili and perhaps some good old late night shopping offers. Globe Hope plans to make the Fashion Festival an annual tradition to celebrate the Kiseleff house and the old market quarters of the area. It doesn't sound like a bad way of starting October.

Fashion Festarit on päivän kestävä ja täysin ilmainen tapahtuma, joka järjestetään Globe Hopen lippulaivamyymälän ja Café Köket:n tiloissa historiallisessa Kiseleffin talossa. Ohjelma pitää sisällään musiikkiesityksiä, Café Köketin herkkujen maistelua, eettisen Huili-lehden esittelyn ja luvassa on kenties joitain late night shopping-tarjouksia. Globe Hopen tarkoitus on tehdä tapahtumasta vuotuinen perinne, juhlistaakseen Kiseleffin taloa ja torikortteleita. Ei kuulosta hullummalta tavalta aloittaa lokakuu.
